General Contraindications
HOCATT (Hyperthermic Ozone and Carbonic Acid Transdermal Technology) therapy is generally contraindicated for individuals with certain health conditions, with some contraindications being specific to the different modalities (ozone, heat, PEMF) used in the treatment.
You should not use HOCATT therapy if any of the following apply to you:
-
Pregnancy (especially the first trimester).
-
Electrical implants (e.g., pacemakers, cochlear implants, insulin pumps).
-
Known heart conditions (e.g., heart failure, recent heart attack, arrhythmias, or severe aortic stenosis).
-
Organ transplant recipients (ozone can stimulate the immune system, potentially leading to organ rejection).
-
Active bleeding or bleeding disorders (e.g., hemophilia).
-
Blood clots, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or a recent stroke.
-
Epilepsy or seizures.
-
Elevated blood alcohol or drug levels.
-
Fever or acute illness.
Modality-Specific Contraindications
Certain conditions may only restrict specific features of the HOCATT system, allowing other modalities to still be used:
-
Implanted metals (pins, plates, screws, joint replacements, mechanical heart valves, metal stents, etc.) are a contraindication for the Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field (PEMF) modality, but not necessarily for the entire HOCATT session.
-
Thyrotoxicosis/hyperthyroidism, G6PD deficiency (favism), porphyria, and vitiligo are specific contraindications for the transdermal ozone component.
-
Hypotension (low blood pressure) can be a contraindication, and the session temperature may need to be kept below 38°C (100°F) or the carbonic acid modality may be avoided.
-
Menstruation is a contraindication for the vaginal insufflation modality, and the heat may increase blood flow if no sanitary products are worn.
Always consult a physician before starting HOCATT therapy to ensure
it is appropriate for your personal health needs
